“Future Food Challenge”

Join us to design and discuss scientific solutions for problems associated with world feeding, from the production of food itself to its influence on human health and the environment!

On the day of the event you will be given a specific challenge under the theme for which you will have to design a solution.

Participants will team up to develop a solution based on scientific evidence and processes within 12 hours. The projects will be presented at the end of the challenge to a jury of talented researchers.

This hackathon is organized by COLife in partnership with Ciência Viva, and with the support of the Oeiras Municipality and Portugal Bugs.

 

When and where:

March 27th, 9 am to 9 pm

Pavilhão do Conhecimento 

 

Who can apply:

University students across a wide variety of fields – medicine, biomedicine, biology, nutrition, chemistry, agronomy, bioinformatics, law, biomedical engineering, communication, informatics, among others. 

You can apply individually or in groups of up to 6 elements.

 

The teams: 

The teams will  be formed by six participants.

The participants who apply individually will join teams accordingly with their studying subject.

But you won’t be alone! The teams will have the support of six COLife researchers who will be your mentors throughout the competition and discuss ideas and solutions with your team. 

 

 Prizes:

The winning team will receive a monetary prize of 750€, the chance of doing an internship in COLife institutions for each member of the team plus visits to the other institutions, and access cards to any Ciência Viva science center

Second and third placed teams will be awarded visits to the COLife institutions and access cards to Pavilhão do Conhecimento.
