National Serological Roadmap

12 jun 2020

A group of 20 researchers from different institutions proposed the creation of a National Serological Roadmap, a crucial tool to understand the real impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the Portuguese population. The Roadmap is led by the Gulbenkian Institute of Science, and is set in two lines: a national one and a local or sectoral one which will allow the identification of what percentage of the population has been exposed to the virus and has developed antibodies against the disease, often asymptomatic. With this information, it will be possible to define the best strategies to fight the pandemic. The next phase will involve partners, public and private, interested in starting its implementation. The robustness of the strategy will allow Portugal to stand out as a successful case in response to the pandemic.
